This hit deep. Nowadays it feels like humans are becoming more like soulless AI products anyway! I need a part two, I really want to hear where their debate goes next.

What do you think? Do you think we have a soul or do you think we’re soulless biological computers designed for consciousness generation and evolution?

Timichelle's avatar

We are biological computers designed by aliens. As for our soul… unfortunately might be programmed by aliens as well.

Found the alt account of the Ancient Aliens guy. 💜

Never heard of him, but where do I sign up to be his apprentice?

Sincerely Seb's avatar

Wait, what? You haven't seen Ancient Aliens from the history channel? Oh, it sounds like you'd love it! Check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK0eolwMlX0

Oh, so THAT'S who he is! I've heard people mention him in other shows, but I honestly thought it was just a running joke or sarcasm. Turns out I'm totally on his team, haha. Thanks for sharing the link!

Very very fun & the limit of 100 words! That’s a healthy challenge.

I’m in team Gary.

Oh, I love this one! I think we know I believe we have a soul. 😁

Soulless humans making new life. Nice concept.

I assume that’s an error in the third to last paragraph? “It’s seems…”

Sincerely Seb's avatar

It is! Thank you so much for pointing it out. 😅💜

can you prove that? er, not in 100 words, for sure! ok, fine. Not ever. 😁

This topic has reached fever pitch, and I see where AI is heading—I don’t like much of it.

I recognise its value: it can help people with special needs or neurological differences communicate and tell their stories. I love the art it can enable. But I dislike the slop, the endless mass generation, the data centres, and what it’s doing to the job market.

We are humans one and all. We should be helping communities, the young, the sick, the old, those without homes or food. It saddens me that human worth and work ethic are now treated as too slow/too expensive. AI can’t be stopped, yet it keeps us busy looking away from the real issues.

It’s like watching the decline of the Roman Empire… with bread and circus 🎪 This time there is wifi…

Aye. Humans aren’t ready for AI, and the capitalist model is a terrible system to be designing it in. We weren’t ready for the internet, and it was used to hijack our psychology and make our societies worse, despite all of the good it can do. Ai will be used for the same undermining of the human experience despite the plethora of benefits it offers, because humanity is simply not mature enough of a species in my opinion.

I concur! I’ve watched it quietly hollow things out, attention, craft, and in some cases the presence of the people I love most. The danger isn’t only that AI will be misused. It’s that we may slowly forget what it means to remain fully human while using it. Thanks for this Seb! 🖤

Seb, It was fun and interesting to read this thought-provoking lab scenario.

I agree with Timichelle. Sometimes it feels as though there are more soulless people around these days. Jokingly, I wonder if they’ve had an AI chip implanted because they can seem so robotic, disconnected and at times, rather selfish.

Thankfully, there are still plenty of genuinely kind and compassionate people who remind us that humanity is very much alive.

Sincerely Seb's avatar

I agree there are still plenty, and I’m thankful for that. Interestingly enough, kindness and compassion are not traits that succeed evolutionarily within a capitalist society. Fortunately they seem built in to the basic design. We’ll see what the future holds.
