New boxes arrive each day.
They are all so poorly packaged, I know I shouldn’t care.
I still do.
They contain the pieces you promised would come.
Reminders that you’re gone, that you’re never coming back.
Oh, my love.
If only I had more money.
You deserved so much better.
I weep every time the doorbell rings.
Yesterday your nose.
Today your ear sat in saturated packing paper.
The box soaked through from your blood.
The phone rang after, it always does.
I can’t help but answer.
And it’s always you screaming on the other end.
Begging them for death.
